Bill Is Awake . .
by Lydia

Sort of awake.  They took the breathing tube out this afternoon.  He's drifting in and out of sleep and from what I understand in some pain, but that's to be expected.  Terry said they were going to get him up this afternoon and plan on removing the chest tubes tomorrow.

I'm with you Doyle -- thank the Lord.  I must admit I was concerned and worried.

What a beautiful day we're having here in Illinois for February 1st.  It's 45 degrees.  This time last year I believe we were dealing with an awful blizzard.  Just hope it stays this way.

Update on Bill
by Lydia

Thank you God for bringing Bill through his surgery.  They removed the heart balloon pump this morning, and will be removing the ventillator tomorrow morning.  They are keeping him sedated until then.  The doctors say all his vitals are good, and they say he is going to be fine.

I haven't been in to see him yet.  He doesn't want us seeing him like that, and I told him before he went in that I just couldn't handle seeing him hooked to all those machines.  It brings back too many memories of Mom.  So --- I'm waiting until probably Thursday to go see him.  I'm not sure when he'll be coming home.  The doctors said today that he would be in another 4 or 5 days.  I know he'll want to be home to watch the Super Bowl  :)

Not much else going on here.  We are enjoying mild winter weather, and I'm loving it.

Forgot to wish my son a Happy Birthday yesterday.  (He never comes on here)  It's hard to believe that he's 32 years old.  I'm gonna try and take a ride over to Indiana in the next week or so and take him to lunch to celebrate.

Nighty night

Noon and No News
by Lydia

Bill is still in surgery.  We think they started around 8:30 or so.  That puts him at 3-1/2 hours.  We could still have a bit to wait.

I hate waiting.  The nurse this morning did say -- No news is good news.

Hopefully my next update will be that he's out of surgery and doing peachy.

Update on Bill
by Lydia

We are at the hospital.  They took Bill back about 7:15 this morning, but the procedure didn't start until about 10 minutes ago.  They have this big monitor in the waiting room where you can watch the progress.  So, the icon that says the procedure has started just turned itself on.

Bill amazes me.  He was so brave this morning -- outwardly anyway.  I'm sure that he had to be a bit nervous.

Doyle and Harriet, I'll be sure and keep updates here on his progress.

They told us if all goes well, they will remove the ventilator today and he'll be up walking tomorrow.  Amazing isn't it?

The procedure itself should take somewhere between 4 and 6 hours.

Dear God - please be with Bill today.  Help him through this.  Don't leave his side okay?
