I was stalking these guys this morning. Let me tell you, I think they're trying to chase all the critters away. They are quite a territorial bunch, but oh so fun to watch -- so long as they don't come too close to me

  Mission Statement

January 5, 2008

Home on the Webb has been around  since 2001.  As of this writing, that makes our website 6 years in the making.  In the making is the key word.  It has been and will continue to be a work-in-progress.

It was started for two reasons mainly:  Adam and Mom.  Adam had just joined the Air Force and I wanted him to have a way to feel like he could reach out and touch his family.  Mom and Doyle were going to Arizona every winter, and I wanted the same for her.  It has evolved to much more than that.

As our website grew, so did my vision.  I began to look at this as a long-term project.  There has been a side benefit to me as well.  My love for photography was born.  I didn't even own a camera when I started this website, and those who know me can attest that you'll rarely find me without a camera in my hand.  Okay, sorry for the sidetrack.

During our time on the vast and growing internet, we have experienced many ups and downs in our family.  We have lost our leader - our Mom (Mamaw), but she still lives on in the pages of this website.  We've had quite a few marriages; been blessed with new additions to our families, and we've had friends and families move away. All of these events have been memorialized right here in our little corner of the web.

So what is it that we do here?

What we're doing currently is:

  • providing a place to keep up on current events and happenings in our families;

  • providing a place to record and share our memories;

  • providing a place to share our photographs;

  • providing a place to calendar important dates and events;

  • providing a place to hang out on the web;

  • providing a place where our family and friends can gather to view photographs and share in the day-to-day happenings of our families.

What are our goals for the future?

I guess this would be the vision part.  They say that if you have a mission statement you should also have a vision statement.  Here's what I hope for the future of our little place on the web:

  • To continue to maintain this website for many years to come;

  • To increase our family's participation in our website;

  • To involve more of our family members in the upkeep and maintenance of this site.

  • To share my knowledge of what I've learned so far in what it takes to maintain a website.

  • To continue to improve the quality of our website.

  • When I'm long gone, our future mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, cousins and friends will have a way to know us by visiting the many pages of our Home on the Webb.

    I often think, how cool it would it be if the internet had been around many years ago, and I was able to look back on past generations of my own family.
